Jacqui Stockdale winner of Belle Arti - Chapman and Bailey Prize
We are pleased to announce Jackie Stockdale as the winner of the inaugural Belle Arti – Chapman and Bailey Art Award, an exciting venture between these two fine art companies.
The Italian company P.E.R Belle Arti is a preparer of some of the world’s finest linens and cottons and Chapman and Bailey distribute these products throughout Australia.
All of the entries for the prize have been finished on one of Belle Arti’s primed linens and all will be hung in the Chapman and Bailey gallery space in Abbotsford. Entries for the prize have been received from all around Australia and we envisage a strong and varied body of artwork. The installation of artworks will be extraordinary as we propose to curate and exhibit, salon style, almost 300 entries for the announcement of the winner and opening of the exhibition on November 11, 2009.
All artworks are finished on stretched linen measuring 36cm x 36cm. The stretched linen has been supplied by Chapman and Bailey as part of the entry fee. The prize is not limited to painters as we have stressed that any medium can be used on the linen. The prize is $5000 and the judges for the award are Angela Brennan, artist, Alexie Glass Kantor, Director, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces and Jason Smith, Director, Heide Museum of Modern Art.
