There are images that I have
always drawn, like skulls and guns. There are images that I find rather
odd yet fun to create - the helicopters, piano keyboard and nudes.
Then there are the words, like sorry, which had a huge influence on
me and a word which really should not have a full stop after it. Sorry
is never the end, it is the beginning. As I kept creating with needlework,
I was inspired to add colours and dyes. People say you must be so
patient to do this work. The truth is I am no good at doing nothing
and I have found this challenging as well as fun. I roughly sketch
the images on canvas before I start but I constantly rework them as
I go. I work small when I am travelling with my husband, Fred , who
is a film maker and when I am in my studio I work on my larger oil
paintings of nudes or landscapes. The work is very personal. I hope
that it speaks to you in the same way.
I would like to thank: Alex and Paddy, Barbara, Ursula,
Judith, Joe, Jen, Harb and Fred for all their support and encouragement.
