Juris
Cerins works on paper & canvas 13 July - 14 August 2004 |
Juris still regularly paints outdoors. Recently his gouaches have recorded observations and responses to living on the south west coast of Victoria. Works on paper have always been a spring board for his canvases. However, Juris’ latest oils on canvas now allude to a more extensive range of other interests and experiences. “Hillside Engraved in Memory of Hans Heysen” shows a regard for an earlier landscape artist. The resonance of Shaw Neilson’s poetry motivated “The Road to the Land Where I Was Born”. Other paintings such as “Sign Post for Refugees” refer to personal journeys.
